Desktop Updates

We’re constantly improving Framer. See the latest Desktop features here or go to Framer Web updates instead.

Improvements and fixes

  • There are now more text properties available to help you style any text in your projects. In the Properties panel you will find the new transform and decoration properties. With the transform property, you can set your text to all uppercase, all lowercase, or capitalize each word. With the decoration property, you can also choose from underline or strikethrough. In addition, you will now be able to set your line height in pixels and percentage.
  • Users can disable or enable background blur rendering on the canvas.
  • Avatars in the dashboard project list on mobile devices are no longer cutoff on the edge.
  • Fixed a bug that caused any controls that use the Control button to no longer function on Windows and Linux.
  • The Device component now has a "custom" preset, which allows you to define your own device.
  • Fixed a bug that caused toggling the visibility of overlay grids to overwrite an overlay grid on a selected frame.

Improvements and fixes

  • Layout grids are now available. Add a grid from the zoom menu or Properties panel. Choose whether you want horizontal or vertical rows under type. Then decide how many you want and set their width or height, margin, gap, and color. Once you have perfected your settings, it’s easy to copy and paste your grid and reuse it throughout your project.

Improvements and fixes

  • Dragging a layer whilst holding down ⌘⌥ on MacOS or Ctrl + Alt on Windows will allow you to move it from anywhere on the canvas, and won’t change the current selection. This is useful for when you want to move a layer that is largely covered by one of its child layers
  • Team packages can now be unpublished from the insert menu
  • Added a useIsCurrentScreen hook which allows Code Components to detect whether they are present in the current screen
  • Implemented a Home Frame option in the context menu for layers which sets it to be shown by default in the Preview window if no other layer is selected
  • Design Components can now be deleted directly from the Insert Menu
  • primary Design Components which have been hidden on the canvas can now be shown from the Insert Menu
  • Improved error handling when publishing packages. If your project contains a dependency which can’t be installed (i.e. due to it being deleted), you’ll now be informed which dependency is causing the publishing to fail
  • Keyboard shortcuts are now displayed in the context menu
  • The Preview window will now display a touch cursor over layers which have touch interactions applied
  • Navigating to a previously visited screen with Magic Motion will now layer it under the current screen to ensure there is no unexpected clipping

Improvements and fixes

  • Updated titles in the Insert Menu for consistency
  • Fixed a bug that caused certain users to be unable to publish public packages
  • Added a shortcut for toggling the selection lock in the Preview window (⌘⇧L on Mac and Ctrl+Alt+L on Windows/Linux)
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused export previews to appear distorted if the layer you were exporting had other nested layers that protruded out of the Frame
  • Improved performance when detaching a Design Component instance from the primary
  • Fixed a bug that caused the Stack insertion indicator to not be shown on the canvas
  • Fixed a bug where parent layers were not highlighted when moving child layers
  • Sketch layers imported into Framer now preserve their lock state
  • Fixed a bug that caused the equal distance snap indicator to not be shown on the canvas
  • Reduced the amount of flickering in the Preview window when changing the selection on the canvas
