Learn more about the slider component
The slider, also known as a UI slider or a volume slider, helps display growth, development, numeric values, distance, and all sorts of metrics that make your data stand out.
The slider allows a user to slide a bar across to select a number or value that needs to be displayed. Often, it’s used to show milestones reached in maps and marathons, fundraisers, or health programs.
Why use a UI slider?
The slider component helps guide users on how to calculate a certain metric, or value, like distance, weight, money, or more. This can be especially useful to allow the user to select a price range while browsing for a product, for example on an e-commerce site.
A sliding animation makes the digital space interactive and user friendly. Some of the most accessible examples can be seen while calculating distance for a given speed per hour, price slider, and other numerics. The UI slider is most commonly used on mobile devices to adjust volumes and brightness, or even to change the intensity of a particular filter applied to a photograph in an editing app.
