Ellipse Wheel

Ellipse Wheel

About Ellipse Wheel

EllipseWheel is a draggable elliptical card wheel for Framer, a true ellipse with independent width and height, not a circle forced into an oval shape, that you grab and spin directly with your pointer.

Most orbit and ring carousels only auto-rotate or drag with generic momentum. EllipseWheel tracks the actual angle of your pointer against the ellipse's center, so dragging feels like turning a real dial, and releasing snaps cleanly to the nearest card.

WHAT IT DOES

Add cards, each with an image and optional caption. Cards distribute evenly around an ellipse, the frontmost scaling largest and brightest while cards toward the back shrink and fade. Drag anywhere to spin the wheel by hand, or let it auto-rotate, pausing on hover if you choose.

KEY FEATURES

  • True elliptical orbit, independent X and Y radius, not a forced circle

  • Real pointer-angle drag tracking, turning feels like a physical dial

  • Snap-to-nearest-card release, no random resting position

  • Depth-based scale and opacity, frontmost card always clearest

  • Optional auto-rotate with adjustable speed and pause-on-hover

  • Adjustable minimum scale for how small back-row cards shrink

  • Optional center label overlay

  • Automatic reduced-motion fallback disables auto-rotate

  • Static-safe rendering for the Framer canvas and thumbnails

  • Zero third-party dependencies, pure Pointer Events and RAF

WHY IT WORKS

Most orbit carousels either spin on their own or drag with generic inertia. EllipseWheel's pointer-angle math makes dragging feel like a real object, and the snap-to-card release means visitors never land on an awkward in-between position.

PERFECT FOR

Team and testimonial showcases, product feature wheels, and any Framer site that wants a hands-on, tactile alternative to a flat carousel.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

A single drop-in component. Add your cards, then tune radius, scale, speed, and colors through property controls.

Drop it in, load your cards, and give visitors something to turn.
