Chrome shows you the room around it, bent by the surface. This room is a photographic studio, reflected in a drifting liquid.

Shadow is the dial that matters. Near-white for pearl and oil-slick, dark for hard chrome.

Rendering stops when the component leaves the viewport. It ignores the cursor, so whatever sits on top owns it.
