About Youtube Video Embed
Framer's built-in YouTube video component is barebones.
This component replaces it entirely.
Paste any YouTube URL, regular videos, Shorts, or embed links, and it handles the rest automatically.
Features:
Custom Play Button - Upload your own graphic or use the default SVG with any brand color. Position it center or bottom left.
Aspect Ratios - 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:5, auto-detect, or free resize. Holds proportions across every breakpoint without black bars.
Custom Thumbnail - Replace the auto-fetched YouTube thumbnail with any image you want.
Thumbnail Overlay - Control the scrim opacity sitting over the thumbnail before playback.
Lazy Loading - The YouTube iframe only loads when someone clicks play. The thumbnail sits in its place until then. Keeps your Lighthouse scores clean.
Border Radius and Shadow - Both clip correctly inside the video on all browsers, including Safari where this typically breaks.
Shorts Support - Paste a Shorts URL and it switches to portrait layout automatically.
Loop and Autoplay - Both available as simple toggles.
Captions - Toggle them on or off.
Full Border Control - Border styling on top of the shadow options.
