Back Issue

Back Issue is a magazine-style Framer blog for writers with years of posts.

It sets a blog like the bound volume of a magazine. Each year is a volume with its number set huge, each post is a numbered entry in the contents, and a post without a photo gets a cover set from its title instead of an empty box. An old WordPress, Squarespace, Substack or Ghost blog rarely has a photo on every post; here twenty in a row without one still look like a magazine.

Moving an old blog in? Our free Blog Import plugin fills every post, year and cover in one run, with no limit on posts.

Includes

• 20 sample posts across 5 yearly volumes and 4 categories, 13 of them with type covers

• Home with the current volume, lead story, contents and more entries

• Article page with a photo and with a type cover

• Category pages and an archive of every volume

• Type covers sized for short and very long titles, the ink following the category

• About, Contact and 404 pages, subscribe form

• Desktop, tablet and phone layouts, Google Fonts only

Setup

1. Remix the template.

2. Install Blog Import from the Framer Marketplace and open it on the Blog collection.

3. Choose your export file (WordPress, Squarespace, Blogger, Medium, Ghost, Substack, Hashnode, Webflow), choose "2 collections, Blog and categories" and tick "Remove the N posts already in this collection".

4. Publish. The Read me page inside the project covers new posts and the form.

Limitations

• Blog Import fills the extra fields (year, entry number, cover style, title size). A post written by hand needs its year and entry number set.

• Two CMS collections, posts and categories, so it publishes on Framer Basic.

• Redirects from old addresses need Framer Pro.
