MG98 PRO

MG98 PRO is a portfolio built as a Windows 98 desktop.

The site boots like an old PC, then hands the visitor a desktop full of icons. They open your projects in a window and drag it around the screen, browse your files in My Computer, put something on in the music player, and lose a few minutes to Minesweeper before they get anywhere near your contact form. The 404 page is a blue screen of death.

Nine pages

• Desktop home with draggable icons

• Projects, shown inside a browser window

• My Computer, a working file explorer with folders

• Minesweeper, playable

• Music player, which plays tracks from YouTube

• MyPlace profile page

• README with setup instructions

• Contact

• 404 blue screen

Everything you would want to change is a property in the panel. Icon labels, taskbar buttons, Start menu entries, folder contents, the resume PDF and the boot text are editable without opening a code file. The boot screen has a replay setting, so you decide whether returning visitors sit through it every time.

The music player takes YouTube links in its Tracks property, so your own playlist takes a minute to load in.

Every page has a mobile layout.
