Octavo

About Octavo

Octavo is a warm, editorial template for independent magazines, quarterlies and zines, built around food and culture. It is designed the way a print magazine actually works: issues with themes, long reads with real bylines, recipes, events, and the shops that stock you.

Everything runs from the CMS, so you can rebrand and fill it without touching a single layout:

- Issues: cover, theme, pages, price, release date and status (pre-order, in print, sold out), with contents listed by page number. The newest issue fills the homepage hero on its own.

- Stories: section, writer, photographer, page and reading time, with rich-text bodies, pull quotes, a writer box and "more from this issue". Filter by section.

- Recipes: any story can carry a recipe card (serves, timing, ingredients, method). It only appears when filled in.

- Contributors: a page for every writer, photographer and cook, listing their stories whether they wrote them or shot them.

- Events: suppers, readings and markets that sort themselves into upcoming and past, with price, venue and booking link.

- Stockists: shops by city and region with photo and address, plus a region filter.

- Shop & subscribe: subscription plans, single issues with live stock status, and a newsletter.

- Advertise (rates + enquiry form), Pitch us (next theme, how to pitch, form), About with a masthead of the team, FAQ and site settings.

- Real forms with sending, success and error states.

Crafted details: a cover photo that opens to full bleed as you scroll, a scroll-lit statement, count-up figures, photo reveals and zoom, a folding-sheet intro on the first visit and a custom cursor. Everything respects reduced motion.

Fully responsive for phone, tablet and desktop (tested at every width from 320 to 1920px), keyboard friendly and accessible.

Note: the magazine, people, shops, events and figures are fictional sample content, ready to replace with your own.
