About Penumbra
A dark, cinematic portfolio for solo filmmakers: directors, cinematographers and videomakers. Your films light up the page.
Light from your films. While a film plays, its colors spill onto the page around it, like a screen glowing in a dark room. On desktop, a soft light follows the cursor and headlines cast short shadows away from it. On slower computers the light lowers its quality by itself, but it never turns off.
Built around your work. A full-screen opening and a Watch reel button on the Home page, a Work page with category filters, and a page for every film with the player, credits and stills. On desktop, the Selected work index shows each film's still as you hover. Films play from Vimeo, YouTube or a video file.
A contact form that briefs you. Visitors pick the kind of project, the timing and the budget from a few options, choose a date and add up to three reference links. It's Framer's own form, so the answers arrive by email. Add your Cal.com or Calendly link for calls.
Ready-made sections. In the Assets panel: a call to action, a call to action with a form, laurels, a testimonial quote, client logos, an availability line, social links, a download button and a camera package.
A step-by-step guide. A 28-page PDF, also inside the project, walks you through every page, swapping in your reel and films, and compressing your videos with free tools (HandBrake or ffmpeg).
