About Vael Folio
Vael is a quiet, light portfolio for photographers, visual artists and image makers. It has big type, lots of white space and slow, careful motion, so the work does the talking.
5 pages Home, Works, About, Contact and a 404. The Home page includes a scrolling carousel of works, stats, an "exhibited at" marquee, a Selected works list with filters, an About block, a four-step process, testimonials, an FAQ and a large call to action.
Motion
A preloader that counts to 100, then the name rises in letter by letter.
A draggable carousel of works that slows when you hover.
A custom cursor that changes over links and images.
The navigation hides as you scroll down and comes back when you scroll up.
On the Works page, hovering a title swaps the large preview.
Testimonials cycle on their own and have arrows; the statement fades in word by word.
Built natively Everything is made with Framer's own layers, components, variants and effects. There are no code components or overrides, so you can change every part on the canvas.
Organised
One type scale of 20 text styles in Hanken Grotesk and Geist Mono.
Colour tokens split into Light, Dark and Accent.
Named components: Nav, Cursor, Corner Button, Chip, FAQ Item, Work Row, Testimonials and Works Index.
A Works CMS collection drives the carousel and the Selected works list. The Selected switch picks what appears on Home.
Setup
Replace the works in the CMS and switch Selected on for the ones you want on Home.
Swap the images inside the Works Index component.
Update the email addresses, social links and About copy.
Publish.
Good to know
Contact works through email links, not a form.
FAQ answers open independently.
The photography is illustrative and included for preview only.
