How to Configure Framer in Okta

Note: Before following these steps, please reach out to your Account Manager to let them know you would like to configure Framer in Okta. They will provide a SAML redirect URL, which is necessary for configuration. Once SSO is enabled, it becomes the default authentication method. If you have some users who need access to your Framer team account, you will need to associate their email address to your identity provider (IdP). You can learn more about SSO for your organization in our support centre.

Configuring Framer in Okta

  1. In your Okta account, click on the Admin button

  2. Under Developer Console, select Classic UI option

  3. Click on Add Applications

  4. Click on Create New App

    Note: Do not select the existing Framer Cloud application as it is a legacy application for which support is no longer provided

  5. Select Web platform and SAML 2.0, then click “Create”

  6. In the General Settings section:

    1. Use Framer Web as name
    2. (optional” upload a logo for the app
  7. In the Configure SAML section:

    1. Paste the URL you were given by your Account Manager in both Single-sign on URL and Audience URI (SP Entity ID) - it should look like https://api.framer.com/auth/saml/callback/0000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
    2. Select EmailAddress for Name ID Format
  8. In the Feedback section

    1. Choose "I’m an Okta customer adding an internal app"
    2. Tick "this is an internal app that we have created"
    3. Click Finish
  9. Once done, click on View Setup Instructions

  10. Scroll down to the Optional section, copy and send the IDP Metadata to your contact at Framer

  11. Add any users and groups to this app in Okta as normal
