With the introduction of the Team Library we’re moving away from a siloed package model and towards a simpler component-based model for sharing your design systems that involves no installing, more lightweight files, and more flexibility in management.
Nothing is being removed yet so you can continue with your Team Package workflow for the time being—using Framer Desktop for publishing and updating. Team Packages may be deprecated in the future once we support all use cases with the new Component-based model.
For all new teams created and all drafts, the packages section will be hidden from the Insert Menu by default. Users can change this to view packages in the “Preferences panel → Show Packages”. If you or your organization needs to enable packages for all the users in a team, please contact us.
|Web & New Desktop App||Team Library||You can add single Smart Components to the Team Library.||Users will immediately have access to the Team Library components from any team file without installing.|
|Legacy Framer Desktop||Public or Private Packages||You can publish Packages containing design components (deprecated) and code components. This will end up under the Public or Private Packages section, depending whether you published it publicly or only to your team.||Users will have to install the package from the Insert Menu to use it.|
