Templates provide a starting point for new projects. Create your own, use templates created by your team members, or choose from 13 default templates in the new project modal.
Accessing Templates from the dashboard
When you create a new Framer project from the dashboard you will see what templates are available based on what team folder is selected in the dropdown.
Accessing templates from within your team folders
Another way to access the templates created by your team members is to go to the Templates folder under any team and click Use Template next to any template. This will create a new project in that team folder with the template ready for you to use.
In addition to going to the Templates folder in a specific team to access templates, you can also create a new project within a team to see the templates available.
Creating your own templates
You can create your own templates when working within a team. Templates can be created in two ways:
- Go to the Templates folder in a team and click New Template. This will automatically create a template file.
- Turn an existing project file into a template from the dashboard. Right click a project file and select the Save as Template menu item. Additionally, when you are in the canvas you can also turn an existing project into a template by going to the menu in the top left corner then clicking File → Save as Template.
The source file for any template will live in the Templates folder and you can always edit it there. All the editors on a team will be able to edit the source file of a template.
Reverting templates to project files
If a template was created accidentally, you can revert it back to a project file by right clicking on a template in the dashboard and selecting Revert to Project.
