Sequen AI is a New York company that wants to change what happens when you open a shopping app and start to scroll. Most AI that people hear about today predicts the next word in a sentence. Sequen trains its models to predict the next thing a person will do on a website or app, and it learns from billions of past user actions to do this. It calls these Large Event Models. Its customers are large consumer businesses with a lot of traffic, and they use Sequen to decide what each visitor sees in search results and recommendations. The system keeps learning as people click and buy, and it adjusts toward the result the business wants, such as more sales. Sequen calls itself a behaviour design engine, which tells you how much it thinks it can shape what shoppers do. It also has a bold number to back the claim. The company says its first five customers made $162 million in extra revenue in seven months.
