Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about design, AI, and the future of my profession.
Today I experimented with building an app using Xcode + Claude, and it got me thinking about something.
I often hear people say that AI won’t replace designers because design is about taste.
But here’s the thing. What’s stopping someone who doesn’t want to hire a designer from finding a few beautifully designed websites or apps, giving those references to AI, and saying, “Make me something like this, maybe change a few details”?
There’s already so much great design out there to use as a reference.
So if AI can reproduce that level of quality, how much does it really matter that it doesn’t have its own taste?
Just something I’ve been thinking about.
