I restructured the business, built a new site, and started reaching out to some of our past prospects. I also signed up for a few freelancing platforms and started picking up missions.
My freelance journey started slowly. Some months I was making €3k, others I was making almost €0.
It was the only income I had. I was no longer a student, so I stopped receiving scholarship money and had to survive solely on what I could earn from web design.
Living in Paris is expensive, so the months right after I graduated (September to November) were tough, but things quickly got better.
As my portfolio improved, I became more confident, more skilled, and started attracting better opportunities.
That brings us to today.
I currently work with two US startups in long-term positions. I work 3 days per week (fully remote) with one of them, and I go to the Paris office of the other startup for one day.
That leaves me with one day per week to take on projects I genuinely enjoy.
My goal is to work with the best companies, produce work that impacts millions of people, and earn big bucks doing it.
I’m also trying to become one of the best designers in the world. Whether I get there or not, I think aiming that high is what pushes me to keep improving.
I’m thinking of starting a series where I share how the business is doing a couple of times a month, maybe every week, answer questions about freelancing, share a few tips, and document the journey.
Let me know if there’s anything in particular you’d like to know. I’ll try to answer it next time I write something (or record a video, I don’t know yet).
