About Google Autocomplete

Simplify address and place capture with Google's new Autocomplete widget / Google Maps JavaScript API. Google predicts locations as users input their address or search for a location.

Features

  • Use your own API key (free for most)

  • Works with Framer's native forms and more

  • Maximum styling controls for you to match your website

  • Smart, fast, automatic script loading

  • Uses Google's newest version (2025)

  • No-code use of all Google's controls/filters.

  • Optionally make the input required

  • Optionally constrain the value to places only

  • Optionally set placeholder text

Filtering Options

Google provides a number of filters. If you want results to be limited to gas stations in Portugal and show their miles to Mumbai but written in Japanese, you can! Just follow the instructions. Each filter is labeled and linked to documentation; no code is needed. If you do introduce a conflict, you will find the error in your console to resolve it.

Note

At the time of publishing, Google provides limited styling options for the widget. When Google provides additional styling options, these will allow you to match your site styles more closely. As of March 1, 2025, Google no longer offers the deprecated legacy autocomplete tooling for new customers. In other words: the styling limitations are not due to Framer or this component - the limitations are imposed by Google on everyone.
