Rewind

The Framer CMS has no version history and no undo beyond your last action. Rewind is that undo.

Take a snapshot of a collection, see exactly what changed since, and put back only the parts you choose.

What it does

Snapshot — captures fields, items, order, draft status and localized values into a versioned, checksummed file you can download and keep.

Diff — compares a snapshot against the live collection. Changed, deleted and added are three separate lists, because they carry different risk. Text and rich text get a word-level diff, so you see the sentence that changed.

Restore — pick whole items, or single fields of single items. Rewind snapshots the current state first, so the restore is itself undoable.

Migrate — open the same file in another project to recreate the collection there, with references matched across projects by slug.

Free, with no locked features and no upgrade prompts. Everything runs inside the editor. There is no account and nothing is uploaded.

Honest limits

Images and files are captured as the link Framer hosts them at, not as the file itself. Restoring re-points at the same upload.

Links between CMS items are slugs, so a restored item keeps its links. Snapshots are downloaded as files rather than stored in the project — Framer allows a plugin only 4 KB of stored data.

Field types the plugin API does not expose are recorded by name only, and listed in the coverage panel.

Collections managed by another plugin are read-only to Rewind. It will still snapshot and diff them.

The .framercms file format is documented and stable. A backup you can only read with the tool that wrote it is a different kind of lock-in.
