About Kiln Studio Template
Kiln: a studio portfolio template with a flexible CMS and art-directed AI placeholders
Kiln began as the real website of Heat Bureau, a design studio. It ran for almost two years before we turned it into a template. Every layout was built to sell real client work: big imagery, editorial type, and nothing left over from a generic template.
Built around your work
Project CMS that fits any case study. Each project has 6 flexible sections. Choose 1, 2 or 3 image columns per section, add a video, or both, with no carousels or fixed layouts to fight.
Wide and video cards. Make a project stand out on the Work page with a wide card or an animated video preview.
Related projects, client, location, credits and services fields, all optional and all handled automatically.
Services you can actually edit
An accordion driven by the CMS, so you can add as many service groups as you need
Tag lists, bullet points and a hover image for each group
A CMS toggle that chooses which group opens by default
A design system that respects your time
Colors grouped into Neutral and Accent folders
Text styles grouped into Heading, Body, Label and UI folders, with sizes set per breakpoint
Free fonts: Inter Display and Fragment Mono
Fully responsive Desktop, Tablet and Phone layouts
Placeholder images that don’t look like stock
All demo imagery was generated with two FLORA techniques: Late-90s Editorial and Crimson Editorial. The template includes a step-by-step guide page with 10 ready-to-use prompts, so your demo content matches your new site from day one.
