OKAY DESIGNING

This site is the portfolio of Yasushi Okano, an art director, graphic designer and photographer working in Japan. I designed it around one idea: let the work speak first. A quiet light-gray background, black type and a restrained geometric sans-serif keep the interface in the background, leaving posters, booklets, books, packaging and websites at the center. Each project is introduced through photography of the actual piece, taken to convey the texture of paper and print, and every project page opens with a full-width image before any details. Navigation is limited to four items: Works, About, Shop and Contact. Projects can be filtered both by discipline (art direction, graphic design, web design, development, photography, writing) and by format (logo, booklet, flyer, packaging, signage, website and more), so visitors can quickly find the kind of work they are looking for.
