About Boom
BOOM is a furniture workshop in Kortrijk, Belgium, where Michael Van Lysebeth turns trees from local parks and gardens into furniture. I designed and built the website in Framer.
The brief: a standard catalogue would flatten the story. The site had to show the craft and explain why this wood is different.
My approach: the structure follows Michael's three values: ecological, emotional and ethical. Visitors see the work first and read the why second. Large photography carries the pages, with sober typography so the wood gets the attention. Projects sit in a masonry grid, so portrait and landscape photos fit without cropping. A separate section covers tree collection: anyone having a tree felled can have the wood collected and turned into furniture, which gives the site a second way to win clients.
The result: a site that feels like the work itself, warm and calm without unnecessary frills.
