About Café Sherpa's
A basic Wix site rebuilt into a premium café identity
Café Sherpa’s is a micro bakery and café in Brookfield, Wisconsin, with a menu inspired by the founders’ travels and everything made fresh in-house.
Their old Wix site was a very simple one that did not reflect their personality and their in-café experience.
The client wanted something different from the usual café site, with the feel of an editorial, dark photography portfolio. We redesigned and rebuilt it from scratch in Framer, giving the café credibility and an identity of its own, with its food and drinks leading every page.
A name that now means food
The word Sherpa usually brings travel to mind. The client wanted guests to see a culinary journey on a plate, so the site’s structure and imagery lead with the menu.
Photography that keeps the focus on the product
The client was shooting in two styles: dark backgrounds with a spotlight on the product, and lighter staged scenes that felt like a hometown bakery.
We tested both on the real pages and recommended the dark direction.
A dark, understated look of its own
Charcoal and gold replace the white and blue of most café sites. The client wanted something different and unique to differentiate themselves from the usual café aesthetics, and that is just what we delivered to them.
The look takes cues from dark photography portfolios, so the photography does the talking. The homepage leans toward drinks over food, because drinks bring in the most guests to the café.
A menu that’s quick to browse
A sticky bar of category names sits at the top of the menu page. One click jumps to that section, so guests reach a drink or a pastry without scrolling through everything.
A menu the team can update
The menu is large and changes every 10 to 12 weeks. We simplified the CMS for a non-technical team, with one collection per category. A featured toggle controls what appears on the homepage, and an availability flag marks items that are in-café only.
