Many creators are up in arms over the fall in sales after the new Framer Markommunity was implemented, aka The Great Leap Forward®. The F team are aware and @Jorn van Dijk has posted on the social network that shall not be named a message where he acknowledges the issue. From the pov of a humble beginner, I'm just going to add my 2-eurocents here:
1. A marketplace where every creator peddles their wares by posting and reposting over and over the same stuff and where little or no curation is in place becomes a messy bazaar. Everyone is yelling "Souuuvenirs, nooovelties, paaarty tricks!".
2. Never underestimate the power and the need for curation. Granted, curation —in the broader sense— requires time, resources and money (apart from good taste). It always did, and it always worked just fine.
3. Do not underestimate, either, the power of and the need for valuable, rich metadata. "Utilities", meaning general categories, doesn't cut it when you need a specific component or plugin. Maybe at least plugins and components could get better tagging? There is little hope now for templates, from the moment that AI-generated templates were allowed to flood the marketplace and the gatekeepers were gone (a mistake).
4. Creators and community members are also responsible for keeping the quality of this place. If you flood the Feed with your commission earnings and then the Framer algorithm puts those posts in the "Hype" feed... that means that criteria and critical thinking have become precious commodities. Don't expect quality / useful content to surface when you need it.
I would love to see a directory of peer-reviewed, quality-checked templates, plugins and components with an impeccable set of metadata and documentation., versus an endless stream of hype and a partially-documented pool of resources. Maybe a Framer seal of approval, or Quality Award, could help.
