My thoughts on current @framer marketplace situation.
Everyone is talking about distribution after the Framer 3.0 update.
Sales are down. Clicks are down. And the common advice is, Build your own distribution.
But I think that’s only one part of the story.
Building distribution is hard. You can’t distribution overnight.
The reason many creators saw strong sales before wasn’t because they had massive personal brands. It was because the Framer Marketplace itself was the distribution.
From a buyer’s perspective, I don’t want to visit 10 different websites to find one template. I want everything in one place.
That’s exactly what the Marketplace solved.
Now the challenge is that discovery feels harder. With no review process, there are thousands of templates, and finding high-quality work among the noise takes much more effort.
If you have hundreds of templates or a large audience, your own store can work.
But for creators with 5–10 templates, I don’t think “just build distribution” is a complete solution.
