Here’s what you need know before you submit a template. To ensure that your submission meets our requirements, we kindly request that you carefully review our guidelines before submitting a template. This will help you understand our expectations and increase your chances of having your template accepted.

Template requirements

Before you submit your template, make sure it checks all these boxes.

Design & Layout

  • Strong graphic design principles such as contrast, typography, layout, balance, hierarchies, and proportion

  • Follows current web design trends

  • Visually appealing layouts and composition

  • Logical layer structure and naming

  • Looks great on all devices and breakpoints

  • Has accessible color contrast where possible

  • Avoid use of excessive Lorem Ipsum and other filler content

  • Pages should have unique layouts, avoid page designs with little differences

  • The amount of breakpoint required to make the website scale across devices are as little as possible

  • The template should be tailored to a particular use case and include features that enhance its usefulness for that use case.

Effects & Animations

  • Maintain consistency in effects and animations. For instance, ensure that appear effects have comparable animation curves and timing to establish a uniform browsing experience

  • Only apply effects and animations to elements that enhance functionality or improve the browsing experience. For example, avoid adding hover or pressed effects to elements that lack links or do not provide additional information when hovered over

Template Projects

  • Template is published to a free custom URL

  • All links in the template work and point to a valid URL

  • Pages listed in the navigation or footer of the template need to link to the corresponding pages

  • Only uses default or Google fonts included with Framer

  • Has clearly structured HTML tags on elements

  • Images have alt tags where needed

  • Template has a custom title and description added in the site settings

  • Template does not use copyrighted content such as images, videos or custom fonts

  • Your template publishes without any optimization errors.

  • The project does not contain any unused components or assets

  • Use descriptive and meaningful names for components that reflect their functionality, rather than generic names like “Component1” or “Widget2”. Examples include “User Profile Card”, “Product Carousel”, or “Checkout Form”

  • All external Components in the template are up to date


  • Name your CMS fields in a way that clearly correlates to the item they are linked to

Template name

  • Give your template a unique single-word name, this will help you distinguish yourself from other templates.

  • Avoid names that describe your template like "Lightfolio"

  • Avoid common words like Basic or Clean

  • Search the Framer template page and make sure the name isn’t already in use

Custom Code

  • External libraries that are required for core functionality or visuals of your template are not allowed

Customer Support

  • Ability and availability to provide template support to your template customers

Creator Agreement

  • Poor-performing and or outdated templates will be removed

  • Templates with bugs will not be accepted and can be removed

  • Templates that use licensed assets which are not owned by the author will not be accepted and can be removed

We understand that you may be disappointed if your template was rejected without a specific reason. However, please keep in mind that our team receives a high volume of inbound templates, which makes it challenging for us to provide detailed feedback on every single template.

We want to assure you that we appreciate your efforts and value your contributions to our platform. We encourage you to take the rejection as an opportunity to improve your template and make it even better. You can review our guidelines and best practices to ensure that your template meets our standards.

Once you have made the necessary improvements, we welcome you to resubmit your template for consideration. We look forward to seeing your revised template and appreciate your continued interest in working with us.

Common reasons your template was rejected

Here are some of the most common reasons why templates are rejected:

  • Poor visual hierarchy or layout

  • Inconsistent use of typography or color

  • Lack of originality or creativity

  • Unappealing design elements

  • Too similar to or an exact copy of an existing template

  • Too similar to or an exact copy of an existing website

  • Low-quality images or graphics

  • Unusable or difficult to edit

  • Missing links

  • Poorly optimized for mobile devices

  • Cluttered or overwhelming design

  • Poor formatting or spacing

  • Overuse of effects or animations

  • Unclear theme or messaging

  • Excessive use of Lorem Ipsum or other filler content

  • Use of copyrighted or inappropriate content

  • Price not matching the quality, complexity, or extensiveness of the template

  • Too simplistic or basic, lacking key features or functionality

  • Uses Framer branded elements such as our logo. This creates confusion around the Templates use case

  • The template still contains the default "My Framer Site" title and description
