Browser Navigation is a functional component that brings native browser "Back" and "Forward" behavior to your custom designs. Unlike standard links, this component mirrors the actual history stack of the user's browser, making it perfect for dashboard "Go Back" buttons or multi-step flows.
Drag the Browser Navigation component onto your canvas.
Connect your design: Use the property panel to select a "Component Instance." This can be any button, icon, or frame you have already designed.
Choose the Direction: Set the type to either Back or Forward.
Optional Fallback: For "Back" buttons, you can enable a Fallback Link. If a user lands on the page directly (with no history), the button will take them to a specific page (like "Home") instead of being disabled.
Preview: This component is environment-aware. It remains neutral on the canvas but activates fully once the site is published.
The component uses the browser’s history stack to navigate backward or forward. If no history exists, the button remains inactive. This behavior is intentional and matches native browser controls.
Canvas Preview: To prevent accidental navigation while designing, the component is disabled on the Framer Canvas.
Initial State: If there is no history to move back or forward to, the component will automatically apply a "Disabled" visual state (reduced opacity) and ignore clicks.
