Why isn’t Safari displaying the favicon?
If your website's favicon isn’t displaying correctly in Safari, don’t worry—this is a common issue with straightforward fixes.
Safari does not support SVG favicons. If your favicon is in SVG format, you’ll need to replace it with a PNG or JPG file. For more details on browser compatibility, visit this page.
Even after updating your favicon and republishing your site, Safari may still not display it correctly due to caching. To resolve this, you can clear your cache or check your website in incognito mode. If the issue persists, follow these steps:
Close Safari.
In Finder, click Go > Go to Folder in the menu bar.
Enter
~/Library/Safari/Favicon Cache/
in the pop-up window and click “Go”.Select all items in the cache folder using Command + A, then move them to the Trash.
Empty your Trash to delete these items.
Reopen Safari.
Safari will rebuild the favicon cache as you revisit websites. Favicons should now display correctly, including those that were previously missing or incorrect.
