How to set or change your default language

Learn how to define or update the default language for your Framer site.

Your site’s default language helps screen readers and search engines correctly interpret your content. It also defines the base locale used when working with localization.

Set your default language

Framer allows you to define a default language for each project. To set or change it:

  1. Open your project.

  2. Go to Settings, and find the General tab.

  3. Find the default language option at the top of the page.

  4. Select your preferred language.

  5. Save your changes and publish the site to apply them live.

Framer Site Settings panel showing fields for Site Title, Site Language, Language Name, and Site Description. The example site title is ‘My Framer Site,’ the site language is set to English (United States, en‑US) with language name ‘English,’ and the description reads ‘Made with Framer.’ A disabled Save button appears in the top-right.

You can update the default language at any time, even after adding additional locales.
