On-Page Editing

With On-Page Editing, anyone in your team can confidently make content updates, collaborate in real-time, and even bring entire new pages to life, directly from your live website in the browser.

Who can edit a site using On-Page Editing?

Site owners and collaborators with Content permissions can use On-Page Editing by opening the published site in their browser. To enable someone to edit the site this way, make sure to grant them the appropriate permissions when inviting them to the project.

When does the edit button appear?

After you publish your site, an Edit button appears on the right side of the screen. On sites with a custom domain, this button is only visible to site owners and collaborators, it is never shown to visitors. On sites using auto-generated staging links, the button is visible to everyone, but only users with the appropriate project permissions can make edits.

What can I edit exactly?

Almost all content on a page is editable, including text, images, and components. This applies to both static pages and those connected to the CMS. Once you click the edit button, a highlight animation will indicate which elements can be modified. To start editing, just hover over an element and click.

  • You can edit text, rich text, images and component properties, in static and CMS pages

  • You cannot edit layout templates and overlay content (yet)

Can I add new pages?

Yes, as long as they’re CMS pages. To add one, navigate to an existing CMS detail page, such as a blog post, case study, or vacancy. Click the edit button, and you’ll see an Add Page option in the Editor Bar. From there, you can create a new CMS page from scratch.

How can I edit fields that are not visible on the page?

When adding a new CMS page, you’ll see a Show All Fields button on the right side of the Editor Bar. Clicking it opens a modal where you can edit every field associated with the page. This is especially useful for adjusting fields like SEO descriptions or featured toggles, which aren’t directly editable on the page itself.

What happens after I finish editing?

After you click Finish Editing, an email notification is sent to project collaborators with publishing permissions. Once they review the edited page and publish the site, your changes will go live and become visible to everyone.

I want to edit a site but I don’t see the edit button, why?

There might be a few reasons you’re not seeing the edit button on a site.

  1. The site has not been published recently. Make sure to publish the site again, or ask a site collaborator to do this for you.

  2. You’re visiting a site on a custom domain, and you don’t have access to the project. To solve this, ask the site owner or a collaborator to be invited to the project.

  3. You have access to the project, and the site uses the reverse proxy functionality. In this case, if the button is not visible, the cause might be that the canonical URL is not set. Ask the site owner or a collaborator to double check this.

Please contact support if you tried all the above, and you still don’t see the Edit button.
