How to transfer your site to someone else

If you’ve designed a site for a client or collaborator and need to hand it over, you can use the Project Transfer feature. This allows you to move ownership of the project to another Framer user while keeping the site live.

If the project has a custom domain connected, it will remain intact and the site will stay online during the transfer.

How to transfer a project

1. Open the project you want to transfer.

2. Click the Framer logo in the top navigation bar.

3. Select File → Transfer Project.

4. Enter the email address of the person you want to transfer the project to.

5. If you don’t want to remain an editor on the project, uncheck the editor option.

6. Click “Transfer”.

When the recipient accepts the transfer, any existing site subscription is canceled automatically. The unused time is credited to your account.

How to accept a project transfer

1. Open the email invitation to accept the project transfer.

2. Click the link and log in to your Framer account, or create one.

3. Click “Confirm Transfer”.

4. The project will be added to your workspace.

If the project uses paid features, such as a custom domain or Localization, the new owner will be prompted to choose and activate a site plan.

Who can transfer projects

To transfer a project, you must be either:

• The project owner

• A workspace admin

Affiliate and Expert revenue from project transfers

If you’re part of the Framer Affiliate Program, you can earn revenue when transferring projects. As an affiliate creator, you’ll earn 50% of the revenue if your client upgrades to a paid site plan after the transfer. For example, if your client upgrades to a $360/year Pro plan, you’ll receive $180.

If you’re a verified Expert, this revenue also counts toward your Pro Expert status. Once you surpass $500 in project transfer revenue, you’ll receive free access to any client project.
