1. Set up MCP
Create a Framer project, then follow the MCP setup guide to connect your AI tool. Sign in to Framer and approve the connection. Check the guide for supported tools and requirements. For one page, see Migrate a single page.
Optional: connect your current platform’s MCP with read-only access if available. Platforms such as Webflow and WordPress.com let your agent read CMS fields and drafts. Keep the source site read-only.
2. Install the skills
Click “Copy skill” to copy the instructions, then paste them into your AI tool. In a tool that supports saved skills, your agent can save both skills: full-site and single-page. If needed, load them in a new chat.
If your tool cannot save skills, keep the instructions in the same chat. Ask the agent to confirm it can read both before sending the migration prompt.
3. Migrate your site
Click “Copy prompt” in step 3, add both links, then send it to your AI tool.
Your agent maps the site, imports CMS content, and builds pages with shared components and SEO settings. It works on a branch, or directly in the project if your plan doesn’t include branching, and leaves publishing to you. Ask it to check whether the content fits your Framer plan.
URLs and redirects: keep existing URLs where possible. Ask your agent to list changed URLs and the redirects needed before launch. You don’t need a redirect if the URL stays the same.
4. Review and polish
Review the report and test the site in Framer Preview without publishing it live. In step 4 of the quickstart, click “Copy prompt” and send it in the same chat with the page to review.
The polish prompt checks one page at a time. Start with the homepage and one page per layout, including a CMS detail page. Ask your agent to apply shared fixes across the site and list anything it could not complete or verify.
Check the result yourself
Test the site in Framer Preview, then check published URLs and redirects on your final domain before launch.
Click through every page on desktop, tablet, and phone.
Test links, buttons, menus, tabs, carousels, and integrations.
Check CMS counts, dates, references, images, and links inside rich text.
Review changed URLs and existing redirects. Test them before launch.
Send a test form, add your tracking scripts, and upload custom fonts.
Finish the work in the agent’s “Needs a person” list.
If used, check localized pages and their language links.
Test keyboard navigation, focus, and downloadable files.
Read What to expect for migration limitations and human checks. When you’ve reviewed the site and finished these checks, continue to Publish and launch.
