Publishing a rebuild does not finish a migration. Your launch may involve one page, a whole site, or a move to a new domain. Review the published result, finish account setup, and test the final URLs before retiring the old hosting.
Review before going live
Approve the migration before merging its branch into main. Review a published preview before sending visitors to the new site. Follow the publishing guide. If your project uses staging, test the staged version before deploying it to production. For the steps, see Staging and versions.
Connect the right domain
Keep your current site live while you test the rebuild at a separate published address. Framer Preview helps you check the page, but use a published site to test URLs, redirects, and services that depend on the domain.
When you’re ready to switch, add your domain or subdomain in Framer’s site settings. Use the DNS records Framer provides and check the connection status. Follow the domain setup guide. Keep unrelated DNS records, including those used for email, unchanged.
Moving one page does not mean moving the whole domain. You can use a subdomain or follow the page-by-page migration guide. Check which URLs will move before changing DNS, and keep the rest of the site available.
Check changed URLs
Keep existing URLs where possible. If an address changes, add a permanent redirect from the old URL to its replacement. Redirects help visitors and search engines find the new page; they do not guarantee unchanged rankings. Follow the redirect setup instructions. For a domain change, keep control of the old domain and arrange redirects wherever it is hosted.
Before switching, save a backup of the source site and record current traffic and conversions. Keep access to Search Console and your analytics account so you can compare the result after launch.
Test the live result
Open key URLs on desktop, tablet, and phone. Check pages and images.
Test menus, links, and forms. Confirm submissions reach their destination.
Check page titles, descriptions, and search visibility. Review the sitemap.
Test changed URLs and existing redirects. Check the final destination.
Connect tracking and integrations. Check consent and recorded events.
Keep review copies out of search. Check the live site’s indexing settings.
Confirm the final domain loads securely and points to the intended site.
Test keyboard navigation, focus, downloads, and rich-text links.
Check localized URLs and language links, if used.
Watch the site after launch
Submit the live sitemap in Search Console and inspect important URLs. Monitor indexing, broken links, form delivery, tracking, and search errors after the switch. Compare traffic and conversions with your baseline and investigate unexpected changes. Keep the old site available and a way to restore the previous version until you’re confident in the launch.
