We review this Cookie Statement periodically and update it to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, and legal requirements.
This cookie statement (“Cookie Statement”) applies to website visitors and sets out how Framer B.V. and its affiliates (“Framer”, "we", "us", "our") use cookies and similar technologies via our website www.framer.com (the “Website”). In addition, some background information on cookies and how you can manage your cookie settings is provided.
Framer is involved with and responsible for the processing of your personal data via the Website. For more information on how Framer handles your personal data in this regard and your privacy rights, please refer to Framer’s Privacy Statement.
What are cookies?
Definition of cookies
Cookies are small bits of data that can be placed on your computer, tablet, smartphone, or other electronic device with which you can surf the internet via a web browser. A website that uses cookies can then place these cookies on your device via your web browser if you visit such website. In addition to cookies, we may use similar technologies such as pixels, web beacons, local storage, tags, and software development kits (SDKs). For purposes of this Cookie Statement, we refer to all such technologies collectively as “cookies.”There are two different categories of cookies:
First party cookies. Cookies which Framer places on your device for its own purposes; and
Third party cookies. Cookies placed by or for an external/third party (e.g. another company). Usually these are cookies for the purpose of advertising and tracking (see the cookie table below). Similarly, Framer may also receive cookie information from third parties when you visit other websites.
Purpose of cookies
After a cookie is placed on your device, your device can be recognized as you surf through the Website via the same web browser. This will for instance enable the Website to remember your language settings. If these cookies are placed by a third-party, such third-party can (also) use the cookie for the same purposes. We may allow third-party service providers to place cookies on our services, including providers of analytics, cloud infrastructure, customer support, and advertising services. These third parties may collect information about your interactions with our services and, in some cases, across other websites and services. Their processing of personal data is governed by their own privacy policies. Where required, we enter into data processing agreements with such providers to ensure appropriate safeguards.
Framer uses cookies for the following purposes:
to allow the technical operations of the Website and the use of its features;
to secure the services and authenticate users;to enhance the performance and functionality of our Website;
to remember preferences, personalize user experience and deliver personalized content;
to provide social media features;
to analyze website traffic, use and performance of the services; and
to support marketing and advertising activities that are based on your interests, to ensure that advertisements are properly displayed for advertisers, and to analyze the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns.
Lifecycle of cookies
After a cookie is placed on a device, it remains valid for a certain period:
Default period. After the validity period of a cookie passes, the cookie is automatically removed by the web browser. Regarding local storage, Framer will make sure that it is removed after the time specified in the cookie overview below. The validity period varies per cookie. For example, some cookies are only valid during the browser session. Other cookies can also recognize your device even if you visit the Website during a new browser session, for example within six months of being placed.
Early deletion/refusal of cookies. You can choose to delete a cookie manually before its validity period has passed. You can also decide to refuse cookies that require your consent. For more information on this, please see the paragraph 3 below: “How do you grant and withdraw your consent?”
What type of cookies do we use?
Framer uses four types of cookies on the Website: (1) functional cookies, (2) analytical cookies, (3) tracking cookies and (4) social media plug-in cookies. More information on this is provided below.
Functional cookies
Definition: functional cookies are necessary for the proper layout and functioning of a website. These are cookies that (1) are placed solely for the purpose of facilitating communication over an electronic communication network, or (2) are strictly necessary to provide the information society service as requested by you.
No consent required: functional cookies may be placed without your consent. Where no consent is required, we process your data in the context of cookies based on our legitimate interest.
Analytical cookies
Definition: analytical cookies are used to analyze and map the use of a particular website, which enables Framer to improve the quality and/or effectiveness of its services.
Consent not always required: Framer does not need your consent to place cookies that collect information about the quality or effectiveness of an information society service (analytical cookies), provided that their use has no or only limited impact on your privacy. Where no consent is required, we process your data in the context of cookies based on our legitimate interests.
Tracking cookies
Definition: tracking cookies are cookies Framer uses to track user activity across websites and to perform geographical tracking for advertising and to track user sessions. It allows Framer to deliver a more personalized service. It also includes social networks using cookies to track the use of their service.
Consent required: Framer requires your consent in order to use tracking cookies.
Social media plug-in cookies
Definition: our Website contains social media buttons for Instagram, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, Threads and TikTok. These are intended to allow users to share web pages via social media. Would you like to share a web page or job vacancy from Framer via social media? You can do so by clicking the social media button on the page. When you click the button, the social networks store cookies on your device.
Opt-in required: these are so-called inactive social media buttons. You must actively click one of these buttons before the respective social media platforms can place cookies. These are also known as "grey" buttons. By clicking a grey social media button, you indicate your acceptance of the button’s functionality and activate the social media plug-in cookies. For more information, please refer to the website of the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
How can you grant and withdraw your consent?
Consent
Where required by applicable law, we obtain your prior consent before placing non-essential cookies on your device. You may accept or reject cookies through our cookie banner or manage your preferences at any time through our cookies setting tool. You may withdraw your consent at any time, and such withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of processing prior to withdrawal. In addition, you can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting cookies.
You can reset your cookie settings by clicking on the “Reset Cookie Settings” button at the bottom of this page.
You can also choose to delete cookies manually, through your browser settings. For your convenience we included links on how to change cookie settings on the most used internet browsers:
In the event you reject or withdraw your consent, Framer will only place cookies that do not require your consent.
If you are a resident of a U.S. state with comprehensive privacy laws (“U.S. State Privacy Laws”), including if you are a resident of California under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (the "CCPA"), you may have the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information, including the processing of your personal information for purposes of targeted advertising. Targeted advertising is when we or our partners display ads to you based on your personal information that is collected across different businesses. Residents of states with U.S. State Privacy Law states who would like to exercise their right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of their personal information can do so by sending an email to legal@framer.com.
Functioning of the Website
If you choose to block or delete certain cookies, some features on this Website may no longer function properly. Deleting or refusing cookies also does not mean that you will no longer see advertisements.
What cookies are placed and for how long?
Cookies are placed directly by Framer or by partners acting on Framer’s behalf. Please find a full overview of these cookies below. This overview includes information about the types and names of the cookies, their purpose, how they are used, whether they are first or third-party cookies, and their validity period.
Information collected via cookies may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your jurisdiction. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or reliance on recognized transfer frameworks. Cookies may persist for different durations. Session cookies expire when you close your browser, while persistent cookies remain until they expire or are deleted. We maintain an up-to-date list of cookies used on our services, including their provider, purpose, and duration. This list may be dynamically updated through our cookie management platform.
